She was a 'beautiful soul'

The family of a 17-year-old Kelowna teen who died on March 19th is trying to raise awareness around youth mental health and addictions.

Chelsea Christianson of Kelowna is being remembered as a “funny, sweet, giggly angel,” who left behind many friends and the family that loved her.

A Go Fund Me page has been created in the hope young people with the mental health and addiction issues can be helped.

“Our goal is to donate the money from Chelsea's story, to the youth shelter at The Boys and Girls Club of Kelowna … as well as The Maple Springs Bible Camp,” says the page.

The Boys and Girls Club of Kelowna was a place Chelsea often found comfort, support and friendship and the Maple Springs Bible Camp was where she received support and love over the years.

Less than 24 hours after the page was created, more than $830 was raised.

A celebration of Chelsea's life is taking place on Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
