Police ID shooting victim

A man shot to death in Abbotsford in what police believe to be a targeted attack has been identified as Jaskarn Lally, 20.

On Friday March 24 just after 4:30 p.m., Abbotsford police received a report of a shooting in the 3500 block of Chase Street.

Cpl. Meghan Foster said when police arrived, “a male was located at the residence and was deceased from what appeared to be gunshot wounds. It remains early in the investigation, and investigators are still working to determine motive. However, it appears that Mr. Lally’s death was targeted.”

Foster said a review of the evidence gathered so far indicates that the shooting occurred at approximately 2:30 p.m., and a dark-coloured Ford F150 fled the scene,.

“Investigators are continuing today with area canvassing, and are asking anyone with information about Mr. Lally’s death to contact police,” said Foster.

“Mr. Lally was known to police, and was associated to local gangs. This outcome is another example of the risks associated with gang life, and those involved are not protected from the dangers of it.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact the IHIT Information Line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448), or by email at [email protected]
