Drivers beware considerate

RE: Open season on cyclists

I ride with my heavy chain lock in my left hand, and if I see a car coming up too close on my left, I drop the chain into view.

I agree with (commenter) wickedscholar, we as cyclists need to obey the rules of the road while we are out there, but the drivers in this town are appalling!

Distracted driving is a term that can be applied to far too many Kelowna drivers! Post pictures of ‘distracted drivers’ @ Shameful Behaviour on Facebook.

I myself, was run over by a gravel truck here in Kelowna in 1993. Lucky to be alive, and still rollin' on 2 wheels as much as possible. Unfortunately, Kelowna, which city hall purports to 'going green' and supporting cyclists, plows snow into the bike lanes and leaves it there, then when spring comes, they focus on sidewalk clearing where few pedestrians walk, and leave the gravel in the bike path.

I am not going to ride in a bike lane full of gravel, as it makes it unsafe for me. No stopping quickly for a child/pet running out in front of you unexpectedly, nor the ability to make a quick maneuver for whatever reason.

Drivers beware, be aware and be considerate.
