Terrifying 10,000-ft dive

A private jet was flipped several times and sent into a 10,000-foot dive after getting caught in the jetwash of an Emirates Airbus A380.

The small aircraft tumbled toward the Arabian Sea after getting caught in the wake turbulence of the superjumbo airliner on Jan. 7, though news of the event is just coming to light.

Nine passengers plus crew were on board as the business jet flew from the Maldives to Berlin.

The Bombardier Challenger 604 suffered irreparable damage in the uncontrolled descent after the Airbus flew just 1,000 feet above it, the Aviation Herald reported.

The jetwash shut down both its engines and it plummeted in a freefall until the pilot was eventually able to regain control. The plane made an emergency landing in Muscat, Oman.

One passenger was seriously injured, and several others were treated in hospital.

The aircraft was operated by MHS Aviation of Munich.

Germany's Federal Bureau of Aircraft Accident Investigation is looking into the incident.

The Airbus was en route from Dubai to Sydney.
