The B.C. Conservative Party wants to build bridges – literally.
Party spokesman John Twigg proposed at a campaign event in Nanaimo Monday building a bridge to Gabriola Island. Twigg also proposed a new ferry service between Metro Vancouver and Gabriola Island to complement the bridge.
"The plans we have developed would, when implemented, provide a huge boost to the B.C. economy and greatly improve the lives of literally millions of people,” he said.
The party also pitched a rapid transit line, connecting the new ferry terminal near Vancouver airport to an existing Canada Line station.
The B.C. Liberals nixed the idea of a bridge to Gabriola Island last year, arguing the $520-million cost isn't worth it.
The B.C. Conservative Party holds no seats in the legislature and has no leader.
