4 months for bike incident

A pickup driver has been given a four-month conditional sentence order over a hit-and-run accident involving a mother and daughter in Coldstream last May 6th.

The women were riding their bikes along Buchanan Road just after 8 p.m. on a Friday evening when they were struck by a black pickup truck.

The mother sustained a concussion and back injuries from the accident.

The driver, Hugh Donnelly, later turned himself in to police.

Donnelly pleaded guilty in Vernon provincial court in February to two counts of failing to stop at an accident scene involving bodily harm.

The sentence, handed down on Mar. 15, means Donnelly cannot leave his home between the hours of 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. for the next four months, said a court clerk.
