Generosity rarely tastes this sweet.

March 20 marks National Macaron Day – a day to enjoy a delicious treat and help local charities. 

Macaron Day, also known as 'Jour du Macaron,' was started by Parisian pastry chef Pierre Herme in 1995. Over the years it has gained international recognition as a way to fundraise for local charities while enjoying the macaron.

Sandrine French Pastry and Chocolate was selling goodies at the Kelowna General Hospital, with 25 per cent of proceeds going to the KGH Foundation. 

"Sandrine is offering a wide selection including the more traditional macaron flavours such as chocolate ganache, pistachio and raspberry, but is also including cassis, rose, passionfruit or olive oil," said Sandrine's pastry chef, Douglas.

"We are here at the hospital because these macarons are going for a good cause and we like to help our community. What's great is 25 per cent of proceeds will go to the KGH Foundation," he added.
