The Coquihalla Highway is about to get a dumping of snowfall and it won’t be letting up any time soon.

Environment Canada said 15 to 20 cm is expected between Hope and Merritt.

“A weather system will spread snow to southern BC highway passes beginning this afternoon,” reads the warning.

Highway passes are expected to receive 10 cm of snow by Wednesday morning and over the summit of Coquihalla Highway from Hope to Merritt to 25 cm is expected by Wednesday morning.

Snow is expected to taper off by Wednesday morning but will intensify on Thursday and Friday.

“Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions,” says Environment Canada.

Rapidly accumulating snow will make travel difficult and visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.
