Injured hiker rescued

A hiker was rescued late Saturday after dislocating his knee near Comox Lake.

Comox Valley Search and Rescue spent several hours looking for the man in difficult terrain during heavy snow.

The injured hiker was transported to a waiting ambulance and taken to hospital.

The group of three hikers ran into trouble about 4 p.m. and was not prepared for the conditions.

“They had travelled quite a significant distance, and they were off trail at the time when he went into a pile of debris and down through a hole and dislocated his knee,” search manager Paul Berry told CTV.

The man was hypothermic when help arrived.
