Dog put down after attack

The rottweiler involved in an attack on a woman last week in Penticton has been put down, according to city of Penticton staff.

Communications officer Mark Parker said animal control responded to a request from RCMP on Feb. 14 regarding an incident where a woman was bitten by her own dog and had to be evacuated out a bedroom window.

City dog control attended the scene but were not asked to assist RCMP or remove the dog from the premises at that time.

On Feb. 15, the dog's owner contacted animal control and voluntarily surrendered the dog to be euthanized.
