100 men strike again

The Starbright Children's Development Centre will benefit from the largesse of a group of concerned Kelowna men.

The group, 100 (plus) Men Who Give a Damn, selected the organization during a presentation meeting Tuesday night.

One hundred men, which has grown to 383 members, heard presentations from three worthwhile charitable organizations, each of whom spent five minutes making their pitch. Paws It Forward Dog Rescue and the CNIB also made pitches.

More than 100 members in attendance selected Starbright, an organization that supports growth and development of children with exceptional developmental needs.

Each member contributes $100 to the charity.

“The final tally for money raised is not yet known as many members who weren't present are calling, emailing and stopping by to drop off cheques," said co-founder Brett Millard.

"It’s so great to see the buy-in from all of the members and their commitment to making sure that the money gets to the charity even if they were unable to make the meeting."

Since its inception, over seven events, 100 men has provided more than $135,000 for local charities.
