Residents of a condo building on Calgary Avenue in Penticton say they are fed up with ongoing thefts from their underground parking area.
For the last two months, everything from golf clubs to bikes and other personal belongings have been disappearing from the Cambrooke House Apartments at 117 Calgary Avenue.
"Everybody who lives here is upset and wants to leave the building," said Alexandra Broddy. "I feel like this is a little bit drastic, and that this should have been figured out after the first theft."
The thefts started small, two months ago, with cars being rummaged through in the underground parkade with smaller items stolen.
Another tenant had his golf clubs taken from the front of his car, the same night a motorcycle helmet was taken from the back of someone's motorcycle.
Another $1,000 worth of personal items were stolen from Broddy's van including sunglasses, money, a building fob. Another vehicle was broken into that same night.
Things have now escalated, with a $3,000 bike stolen from a storage locker in the parking area, and finally on Tuesday morning at 6 a.m, locks were cut on storage units in a secure area and two bikes and other items were taken.
The Penticton RCMP confirmed they have been called to the building several times for property crime.
“Police are reviewing surveillance video for potential suspect identification,” Cpl. Don Wrigglesworth said, reminding the public to always lock their vehicles and keep valuables out of sight.
"It makes me constantly feel uncomfortable," said the tenant who had his golf clubs taken. "More than anything we want it to stop and have the person who is doing it arrested."
