Repairs to Coq. bridge

A major bridge along the Coquihalla Highway is getting some much-needed repairs.

The Dry Gulch Bridge will have all four lanes of the deck resurfaced and the abutment bearings and expansion joints will be replaced.

Work will begin this spring to extend the life of the steel-arch bridge.

"This is the first major rehabilitation on the Dry Gulch Bridge since it was built in 1985 and is an excellent example of the investment our government has made towards bridge repairs and replacements,” said Todd Stone, Minister of Transportation.

The project is expected to be completed in fall 2017 and will provide close to 20 jobs.

"Highway 5 is a vital link in our transportation network and a critical trade corridor linking the Lower Mainland with the rest of Canada," said MLA for Fraser-Nicola Jackie Tegart.

"Therefore, it is critical we keep this highway, and all highways throughout the province - in good condition, with well-timed rehabilitation.”
