Parents with children at Armstrong Elementary are being warned that a student was approached by a man last Thursday, asking if the child wanted a ride.
A safety bulletin was issued on the school's Facebook page stating:
"On Thursday Feb. 16th at 3 p.m., one of our students was asked if he wanted a ride by a man (with) dark brown hair and glasses. The man was unknown to the child and is possibly in his mid forties. This happened when the student was walking home from school at 3 p.m. on Okanagan Street."
According to principal Denise Brown, the student reported the incident to his mother who contacted both the school and the RCMP.
The stranger was reportedly driving a black SUV, possibly a Suzuki sidekick or a small Chevy truck.
"Please help our students and community by discussing this important safety bulletin with your children," Brown said in the bulletin.
A letter from the school will be sent home with children on Monday.
