Drug busts at motel, home

Police in the Central Okanagan have been busy making drug busts.

Kelowna RCMP teamed up on Jan. 20 with Lake Country RCMP and raided a room at Airport Inn in Lake Country. Officers seized about 5.5 ounces of suspected cocaine, one ounce of hash and $4,000 in cash.

A 63-year-old Lake Country man and a 25-year-old West Kelowna man both face charges.

“The Lake Country RCMP wish to extend their thanks to the owners and staff of the Airport Inn for their continued assistance with police matters involving their establishment,” said Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey.

Meanwhile, the Kelowna RCMP's Downtown Enforcement Unit executed of a search warrant on a suspected drug house Jan. 20 on Elm Street.

A 59-year-old man and two women were arrested inside.

“A subsequent search of the residence yielded over 100 grams of suspected cocaine, over 1.15 grams of suspected heroin, over 280 grams of marijuana, nearly half a gram of suspected methamphetamine and just over 300 various illicit pills,” said O’Donaghey.

“During their search, investigators also seized a replica firearm, a can of bear spray, packaging materials consistent with drug trafficking and cash.”

The women were later released without being charged.
