UPDATE: 7:41 p.m.

A witness to the scene says the crash on Highway 3A between Keremeos and the Highway 97 junction was a head-on collision.

Ali Jordan says her friend is on the highway, waiting for the road to be cleared. Jordan was told it would be at least an hour until the highway is open again.

As of 7:25 p.m., there were no flaggers stopping drivers from entering Highway 3A.

Jordan's friend says the vehicles looked to be severely damaged and had to be hauled away on a flat-deck truck. She adds that the jaws of life were used for quite some time on one of the vehicles.

The road was quite slippery, according to Jordan.

Police and firefighters were reportedly on scene, along with three ambulances.
