Serwa just misses podium

Kelowna's Kelsey Serwa just missed out on a podium finish at the second World Cup ski cross race of the season.

Serwa finished fourth in final run of the day in Val Thorens, France.

The reigning X-Games champion and Olympic silver-medallist, showed moments of brilliance and perfect technique throughout the day.

In the semi-finals, Serwa executed a textbook pass over the basketball turn that has caused so many upsets over the past few days, which advanced her to the big finals.

It was the second race on the course at Val Thorens.

Friday, Serwa finished eighth.

"Was knocking on the door of that podium today with a 4th place finish," said Serwa on her Instagram account.

Teammate Marielle Thompson, who finished on top of the podium Friday, was relegated to fifth Saturday, winning the small final (consolation) after failing to qualify for the final.

Anna Holmlund from Sweden won the women's race Saturday.

Brady Leman finished second in the men's race. Dave Duncan finished sixth.

Racers now head to Arosa, Switzerland for the next race Tuesday.
