Penticton

New hotel being considered

An empty lot near the entrance of Penticton could be the site of a new hotel.

The land on Eckhardt Avenue formerly held a Petro-Canada station, which was torn down in 2013 and moved down the street.

Manager of the neighbouring Ramada Hotel and Suites Jessica (Agur) Dolan confirmed that they have purchased the lot and are in the middle geo-technical and feasibility studies.

“We liked the location, and we thought it could be an extension of something we already have, or it could be a great option for another hotel in town.”

She says 2016 has been fantastic to local hotels, and the city could definitely support another if things continue that way into next year. However, she cautions that the economy could slow, which is why they are taking their time on the project.
