The Vernon Legion will be heading into the New Year with a new executive.

After initially having a difficult time finding anyone to run the Legion leaving the future of the club in doubt, several people came forward and a new executive was formed.

“The new executive, led by president Bill Balcaen, already is developing some exciting initiatives,” said outgoing president Ron Heuman. “It was great to see younger members attend and join the committee. Hopefully this positive move will encourage more interest in Legion affairs and social interaction.”

Heuman was encouraged by the enthusiasm and renewed interest of the membership in keeping the Legion operating in the community.

“The Legion can continue to support our local veterans, generate gaming funds for donation in the Vernon community, provide bursaries to students, as well as continuing the traditional Remembrance activities at a high standard,” said Heuman.
