Most successful poppy fund

This year's poppy fund in Kelowna has hit a new record, according to MLA Norm Letnick.

A cheque for $176,297.72 has been cut for Royal Canadian Legion Branch 26, marking the most successful poppy fund campaign ever, according to Letnick.

That's slightly over the campaign's goal of $175,000, which was the total raised in 2014, the year Cpl. Nathan Cirillo was gunned down at Parliament.

This year's campaign faced difficulties, with a lack of volunteers, meaning those who did volunteer, largely seniors, often did more than one shift.
