A 20-year-old man has agreed to spend the rest of his life in prison for the fatal shooting of a teenager working at a sandwich shop outside Cleveland.
Daveion Perry on Wednesday pleaded guilty to aggravated murder and 14 other charges just days after being indicted for the Oct. 14 slaying of 15-year-old Sunny Ravi Patel at a Mr. Hero shop in Cleveland Heights. Perry is scheduled to be sentenced Friday in Cleveland.
Attorney Charles Swanson tells The Associated Press Wednesday that Perry immediately acknowledged having killed the teen during their first conversation at the Cleveland Heights jail after his arrest Oct. 16. Prosecutors say Perry provided a full confession.
Swanson says Perry agreed to a sentence of life without parole to avoid the possibility of being sentenced to death.
