Shot then crashed

UPDATE: 2:30 p.m.

Police say a shooting in Burnaby is believed to be targeted.

Just after 1 a.m. Wednesday, Burnaby RCMP fielded numerous calls about a shooting on Broadway. Police found a vehicle crashed into a home. The occupant was taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators say the 44-year-old shooting victim is well known to police and is affiliated with an organized crime group. No arrests have been made yet.

Police say no one in the home was hurt, but they were "severely shaken."

"We are satisfied with the progress we are making on this investigation thus far," said Sgt. Annie Linteau. "A number of police resources will continue to look at a possible motive for this incident and look at who could potentially be involved."

The Burnaby RCMP Serious Crime Unit is continuing its investigation and are "mindful of other violent incidents that have recently taken place in the Lower Mainland." 

Police say they will look for connections to other incidents.

A man was shot and a car crashed into a home overnight in Burnaby.

CTV reports the shooting led to the crash on Loughheed Highway.

The compact sedan slammed into a basement window of the home, rear end first.

Police say a large gun was seized from the scene.

One man was seen being taken away in an ambulance.
