Mystery around IH VP

UPDATE: 4:15 p.m.

Interior Health is confirming an "organizational restructuring" at the health authority, but is saying little more about the departure of one of its vice-presidents.

Castanet received tips Martin McMahon, VP of Allied Health and Planning & Strategic Services, had been fired.

IH communications officer Tara Gostelow said in an email: "We can confirm that there has been an organizational restructuring at Interior Health, and that the individual you are inquiring about is on leave.

"However, we’re not in a position to provide further details as the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act restricts us from sharing information about certain personnel matters without the consent of the individual involved."

A vice-president with Interior Health appears to no longer be working for the health authority.

Castanet has received tips that Martin McMahon, VP of Allied Health and Planning & Strategic Services, is no longer with IH.

Requests for information about McMahon’s status were deferred to Interior Health’s communications department. However, they have not answered multiple requests for comment.

An automatic email response from McMahon says he’s on a leave of absence.

He’s been removed from IH’s online organizational chart and does not appear on the website alongside other executives.

McMahon oversaw the strategic direction of health care and setting strategies to meet performance targets.
