Seymour gathers steam

Seymour has become a major Category 3 hurricane in the Pacific, far from Mexico's coast.

The hurricane's maximum sustained winds early Tuesday have increased to near 115 mph. The U.S. National Hurricane Center says additional strengthening is expected Tuesday but Seymour is expected to begin weakening Wednesday.

Hurricane Seymour is centred about 565 miles south-southwest of the southern tip of Mexico's Baja California peninsula and is moving west near 15 mph.

The hurricane isn't currently threatening any land.
