Break-in suspect nabbed

A Kelowna man is facing several charges after police arrested him in connection with a commercial break and enter over the weekend.

On Oct. 23 at 7:50 a.m., RCMP responded to a report of a possible break and enter in progress at a business on the 1400 block of Ellis Street.

“Police surrounded the business and cleared the interior of the building to find no one inside,” said Const. Jesse O’Donaghey.

Investigators were able to determine that the suspect gained access to the building through the roof, and once inside, he stole multiple items valued at more than $5,000.

Their investigation identified a suspect in the break in and the next morning he was located.

O’Donaghey said in the early morning hours today, officers located the suspect inside a camper van in the Kelowna City Hall parking lot.

The suspect, a 34-year-old Kelowna man, was taken into police custody without incident.

O’Donaghey said the man was found to still be in possession of items allegedly taken during the break in.

He faces several potential charges and is expected to appear in court today.
