Flipped trailer ditches cars

UPDATE: 2:30 p.m.

RCMP do not believe alcohol or speed were contributing factors in a single-vehicle trailer rollover this morning.

On Oct. 24 at 11:13 a.m., Lake Country RCMP received a report of a single-vehicle-rollover collision in the area of Oyama Road and Pelmewash Parkway.

“Police have determined that a car-carrier trailer loaded with two new vehicles attached to a red Ford F350 pickup truck rolled into the ditch on its side as the pickup turned onto Pelmewash Parkway from Oyama Road,” said Const. Jesse O'Donaghey.

“Investigators do not believe that alcohol or speed were contributing factors to the crash.”

O'Donaghey said it is fortunate that no other vehicles were involved, no other property was damaged and no injuries were sustained as a result of the crash.

Any witnesses are asked to contact the Lake Country RCMP at 250-766-2288

ORIGINAL: 12:30 p.m.

Two shiny new vehicles got in an accident before they even hit the road.

A red pickup truck towing a flat-deck trailer lost control at Oyama Road and Pelmewash Parkway in Lake Country late Monday morning.

The trailer towing the two new vehicles flipped off the road and into a nearby ditch.

Lake Country Fire Chief Steve Windsor says the driver was hanging a left when the trailer started to tip.

The trailer ripped away from the pickup truck as it flipped into the ditch, causing damage to the truck as well.

A heavy wrecker was called to try to recover the trailer, while doing the least damage possible to the two new vehicles.

Emergency personnel rushed to the scene and report there were no injuries in the accident.

Castanet will have more information when it becomes available.
