Found remains are human

UPDATE: Monday 6 A.M.

Police are confirming their belief that remains found in a wooded Abbotsford area are human.

A resident discovered the remains Saturday afternoon.

“We did confirm that we did believe it was human remains,” Abbotsford Police Sgt. Judy Bird told CTV.

Coroners and police are investigating the discovery.

Neighbour Mike Inman said the residents are “Nice people, we’ve known them for years.... We’ve been here 30 years, they’ve been here longer.”

The remains may have been on the property for weeks or months.

“We’re currently working to establish those facts, and when we have concrete details we will update,” the Intergrated Homicide Investigation Team said in a statement to CTV.

Abbotsford police are investigating after possible human remains were found in a wooded area.

CTV reports a resident came across the remains in a rural property on the 30900 block of Downes Road at about 2 p.m. Saturday.

Forensic identification members, major crime detectives, and police officers attended the scene.
