Oktoberfest and ciders

Not much business happens I guess when Cider and Oktoberfest is in season.

I need to know which employee at the Tree Brewing Institute came up with the name Cask Throwdown. I love it.

The fact that this is the third annual means it must be a popular event. Three brewers from Tree Brewing compete to see who gets bragging rights for making the best cask — and they need our help to pick the winner.

Last year’s winning cask was the Wookie, a barley wine by Brewer Blake. He must be taking bets to see if he will retain his title.

Head over to to the institute on Oct 27 after 6 p.m.

Scenic Cider is extremely excited to be hosting their first BC Cider Week Event

Cideries from across B.C. wil join them at Appleooza to provide tastings from their great selections of cider.

You will see Tod Creek Craft Cider, Left Field Cider Co., Twisted Hills Craft Cider, Summerland Heritage Cider Company, Howling Moon Cider House, Sea Cider, BC Tree Fruits, and Rider Cider.

Wards Hard Cider is also hosting a launch party for their Ginger Apple Cider.

It’s their latest to craft cider to win some awards. They will be doing pairing some food while you enjoy complimentary tastings at Rose’s Pub on Saturday evening.

You need to check out Honomobo’s open house on Saturday.

They are a construction/engineering company from Edmonton.

Honomobo is a modern, beautiful living space pre-manufactured from shipping containers Permanent Modular CSA and National Building Code Compliant.

They are asking that you RSVP for their H03 event that will allow you to see Kelowna’s first shipping container home.

The inside pictures look stellar, so I am really curious to see what they have done on the outside.

Cleavers and Cocktails at Micro Bar • Bites is back this Sunday.

Cleavers and Cocktails pits the chef and the bartender from two restaurants against each other to create both a cocktail and two plates that must pair.

It’s a fun twist to the battle is that each team will bring secret ingredients to challenge their opposing chef and bartender and both teams must use all the ingredients.

For this competition, Chef James Holmes of Craft Corner Kitchen will be battling Chef Chris Braun of micro bar • bites.

Check it out here.

Come sip, savour, and support the Canadian Mental Health Association in opening an integrated youth clinic right here in Kelowna.

All the money raised at OktoberFEAST at the Bohemian Cafe Oct. 28 will help build and sustain the clinic.

Scallops, pheasant and rabbit all make it on their fish and wild game menu which is posted on the website.

This is a phenomenal fundraiser which will help empower youth 16-24. You know Kelowna needs this.

Make it a great week.
