Blue Jays stay alive

The Toronto Blue Jays will live to fight another day.

The Jays bats came alive against Cleveland ace Cory Kluber in a 5-1 win Tuesday afternoon. The win means the teams will play again Wednesday afternoon in game five of the ALCS.

The Jays still trail the series 3-1.

Toronto took its first lead of the series in the home half of the third when Josh Donaldson smacked his first post-season home run over the centre field wall. The dinger gave the Jays a 1-0 lead.

They doubled it an inning later when Ezequiel Carrera's base hit scored Troy Tulowitzki from second.

Cleveland got one of those back in the fifth, but Toronto put it away two innings later.

Ryan Goins led off with a single and Jose Bautista reached on a throwing error. After Donaldson was intentionally walked to load the bases, Edwin Encarnacion drilled a single to centre to score Goins and Bautista.

Aaron Sanchez went six innings, surrendering just two hits while striking out five.

Marco Estrada will go to the mound for the Jays Wednesday. The Tribe will counter with rookie Ryan Merritt.

Merritt appeared in just four games for Cleveland, including just one start.
