A boutique downtown daycare has arrived

Are you a parent who works downtown and needs daycare for your kids? I am.

A big thank you to Sam Richards for convincing his wife, Tenecia, to open Beyond Learning Kelowna Daycare and Learning Center on the corner of Cawston and Ethel. 

This is an urban, boutique-style daycare and learning centre that cares for 24 children — aged three to five — each week day between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. 

This is a new facility that has just opened, so hurry and look at their website because they are offering a pretty good special for September. 

Valaura Vedan of the Arts Council of the Central Okanagan is out doing herself again by partnering with Alexandra Babble of Kelowna Opera to be part of B.C.’s Cultural Days Imitative: Classical Arts 101 will be held at the Forum on Oct. 2. 

Join them while they look at opera, ballet, theatre, poetry, theatre, music, architecture, fashion and more. 

This will be a fabulous time in a newly renovated space so come join us this Sunday.

In celebration of Tree Brewing's 20th Anniversary and the kick off of B.C. Craft Beer Month, head down to Tree Institute on Saturday for its first Oktoberfest. 

$5 pints and German-inspired food from noon to 11 p.m. It is also the release of its Oktoberfest beer.

Omar Rashwan, Tree's business development manager, will be giving away prizes and playing games all day and you know, Tree gives out good prizes.

Okanagan's Wine Festivals will begin today. 

There are so many events to mention, but WestJet wine tasting and The Young Chefs Cheese competition are two of my favourites.  

Okanagan Street Food is once again taking care of the food at the WestJet wine tasting. I almost think that some people go for his food instead of the wine. 

There are lots of new wineries there showing off their new vintages, so go and support the Wine Festival Society by getting a little tipsy. 

Congratulations to new CEO Craig McCulloch at Mount Boucherie Winery for making it to his first crush. 

“The essence of Mt. Boucherie Winery remains the same, a commitment to outstanding quality and using 100 per cent grapes sourced exclusively from our own vineyards,” says McCulloch. 

This crush should produce more than 25,000 cases as it is harvesting over 200 acres of grapes. 

Simply Impressive!

The Mayor's Luncheon is coming up on Oct. 11 with only a few tickets available.  

This is your chance to ask the mayor some questions about the future of our city and how some of the issues are being resolved today.  

Don't be that person that gets on the waitlist because last year tickets didn't become available again. 

UpTown Rutland's Scarecrow Festival is back this Sunday.  

Join in the fun of the Scarecrow Building Contest. Scarecrows can be built ahead of time or right on site that day.

Last year, there were over 150 scarecrows on display. Giant-sized board games, bouncy castle face painting, crazy hair, Lego experience, crafting table, bead booth, and who doesn’t love the Shriners' clowns?

Live entertainment all day while you wait for the winner of the Apple Crisp contest.

This is a fun family event that everyone should check out.
