One of the five people who overdosed after a wedding in Kelowna last weekend has died.
While the other four people have since recovered, a Kamloops man in his early 20s was rushed to hospital in critical condition but didn't pull through.
Edmond Paul Adkin died Tuesday after using cocaine, likely laced with fentanyl.
Tributes poured in on social media for Adkin.
"Lost a true gentleman today! When you realize life can be over in a blink of an eye, live with a smile on your face and respect every individual soul on earth!" said one friend.
Another said: "Every time I saw you, you were always smiling, always so kind, the light that shined from your soul could be seen a mile away. I'm still in shock that this has happened."
So far this year to the end of August, 27 people have died in Kelowna this year due to fentanyl-related drug overdoses.
