TOTA ready for winter

Let it snow, let it snow…

The Thompson Okanagan Tourism Association is eagerly ramping up for the winter season – even though it's still August.

One of TOTA’s focuses in its 10-year regional tourism strategy is elevating winter visits, says CEO Glenn Mandziuk.

"Our Wonder of Winter initiative...is comprised of a variety of elements all designed to make sure our potential visitors consider the Thompson Okanagan not just for summer sun and fun, but return to us in the cozy snowy months," Mandziuk wrote in a TOTA blog post.

There are four key elements:

  • Remarkable Experiences –  The Destination BC workshop and training program was piloted last year and will be relaunched in October with three workshops over four days.
  • Wonder of Winter Route 97 Supplement – A print and online marketing piece targeted at non-traditional months for tourism.
  • Digital, Social Media and Blog – TOTA's digital team will create video, blog and social media posts that focus on regional winter products.
  • Product Inventory Survey – TOTA staff will be contacting communities to build a comprehensive winter tourism products list.

Member businesses can also take the six-question survey online.
