Bye bye August, hello rain

Residents of the Okanagan have complained of a dreary summer filled with showers — the last few days of August will prove no different.

It may feel extra wet, but that's because the last couple years have been extra hot and sunny.

Environment Canada says temperatures this summer have been close to the seasonal average.

Wednesday’s forecast includes morning showers and a risk of a thunderstorm early in the afternoon. The wind will also pick up as Environment Canada expects gusts of up to 20 kilometres an hour. Temperatures will still sit in the upper 20s C for the day.

Then on Thursday those in the Central Okanagan can expect a mix of sun and cloud, a 30 per cent chance of showers with a high of only 23 C.

To kick off the long weekend, Friday is expected to be rainy with temperatures of 18 C.

Much the same for both Saturday and Sunday, a 40 per cent chance of showers with temperatures in the high teens or low 20s.

For the last day of summer holidays before school is back in session – Monday’s forecast is a high of 20 C with a mix of sun and cloud.
