B.C. Lottery Corp. isn't leaving Kamloops – but it is looking to move.

While renewing a pledge to maintain its corporate headquarters in the city, Lotteries confirmed Thursday it is looking at relocating to newer offices.

Through a request for proposal, BCLC has selected Avison Young Commercial Real Estate as its real estate adviser to assist in the review, planning and delivery of new office space in Kamloops.

The current head office on West Victoria is more than 50 years old and many of its mechanical, electrical and structural components are original. If the Crown corporation remains there, those components would have to be replaced.

Next steps will require the real estate consultant to assist in development of a business case to determine BCLC’s options. BCLC will analyze those to determine the most efficient and cost effective solution.

Lotteries will make its decision public at that time.

BCLC’s head office houses its customer support call centre, data centre, information technology and finance functions along with a significant portion of the security, human resources and executive team. 

It also has a marketing and sales office in Vancouver, which it will continue to maintain.
