Arrest in taxi stabbing

UPDATE: 11 p.m.

Kamloops RCMP report a 19-year-old Kamloops male has been identified and arrested in connection with the stabbing of a local taxi driver. 

The suspect is being held in custody for a court appearance on several charges.  


UPDATE: 11:30 a.m.

Kamloops RCMP have released surveillance images of a suspect in this morning's cab driver stabbing.
 
The male is described as Caucasian, with short dark hair, slender build and wearing a dark blue hoody with white lettering on the front that says "Crooks & Castles."


ORIGINAL: 7:45 a.m.

A cab driver suffered life-threatening injuries when he was stabbed early Wednesday while delivering a fare.

Police received a report of the assault at 1:58 a.m. The taxi driver was rushed to RIH by ambulance paramedics. There is no further word on his condition.

The attack occurred on Pleasant Street near 8th Avenue. The suspect was last seen running from the area.

Police are still trying to identify and locate the suspect and have called in the detachment’s serious crime unit to assist with the investigation.
