Kierra returns Sunday

A late night party is in the works for swimmer Kierra Smith.

The Kelowna Olympian is scheduled to fly into Kelowna Sunday night at 11:50 p.m.

"Sorry folks.....it's Sunday at 11:50 PM not am. 10 min b4 midnight. Please still come out if you can," tweeted Kelowna-Lake Country MLA Norm Letnick, who plans to be one of thosee greeting Smith at the airport.

"@kierras Smith is returning to #Kelowna on Sunday at 11:50am! Let's greet her at the airport to show her our support!! #rio2016."

While Smith won't be bringing any Olympic hardware with her, she could be sporting the Olympic rings.

Smith arrived in back in Canada today, landing in Halifax.

Upon arriving, she tweeted, "Made it to Nova Scotia! First thing Grammy says to me is she's booked my appointment to get the rings tattoo."

Smith competed in both the 100 metre and 200 metre breaststroke in Rio.

She finished seventh in the 200 metre final after failing to qualify for the semi-finals in the 100 metre event.

She finished the 200 metre event in 2 minutes 23.19 seconds, more than a second quicker than her gold medal time at the Pan Am Games a year ago.

Smith didn't swim the medley relay in Rio.

On twitter after her events, Smith said she was already looking ahead to the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.
