Gervais ignores bad reviews

British comedian Ricky Gervais is unfazed by bad reviews and doesn't care about the opinions of online trolls.

The 55-year-old funnyman used to take criticism of his film and TV projects to heart, but now he's a Hollywood star, he confesses his substantial wealth softens the blow.

"I used to think a bad review meant there would be everyone agreeing with it with burning pitchforks. Now it doesn't hurt me. I've gone through it and come out the other end thinking, who cares?" he told British newspaper the Daily Mail.

Ricky has also decided to pay no mind to the haters who frequently comment on his famous Instagram bath photos, in which he pulls a grotesque face while lounging in his tub.

"I don't care now whether people like my face, or my films, or my laugh. I used to worry about a bad paparazzi photo. Now I take pictures in the bath looking as ugly as I can!" Ricky joked.

And he has a few choice words for those online trolls who say mean things about him social media. "No teenager living in his parents' basement can affect the life of a person floating on a lilo in his own pool," he laughed.

"If someone way back had said to me: 'OK, Ricky, you're nearly 40. You have an average job. Soon you're going to be incredibly famous and have money beyond what you could ever imagine, and be friends with (David) Bowie, but every so often some blogger is going to say something mean about you. Do you want it or not?'... Yes!"

The actor, who has amassed a reported fortune of $79 million (£60 million), has since returned to his roots by reviving The Office's David Brent, the character which turned him into a household name in the U.K., for new movie Life on the Road.
