PM greets winery visitors

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his family greeted visitors to Mission Hill Winery in West Kelowna, Friday evening.

Trudeau has been spotted around the Central Okanagan since Thursday, when he arrived at Kelowna Airport on a personal visit before taking part in the Vancouver Pride Parade on Sunday.

Friday evening, a high security presence alerted visitors to Mission Hill that something was up.

"Secret service (was) standing around, the restaurant was closed," Amy Nunn tells Castanet.

"So, we waited, and sure enough, Justin Trudeau and his family showed up."

Staff at the winery had apparently been sworn to secrecy over the PM's visit, and he was rumoured to be staying at a private residence on the estate.

Nunn says Trudeau greeted visitors and proceeded on a private tour of the winery with proprietor Anthony Von Mandl.

"They greeted us, said hi ... It was so exciting. They were such a beautiful, stylish couple, and the kids seemed very well behaved," said Nunn.

According to Trudeau's Twitter page, he is planning to be in Vancouver for the Pride Festival on July 31.
