Fatal accident on Granville

Police are investigating after a pedestrian was struck and killed on Vancouver's Granville Island Thursday.

Vancouver police said three pedestrians were hit by an SUV, with one dying after being pinned under the vehicle.

“Around 12:30 p.m., a vehicle hit three pedestrians in the 1600 block of Anderson Street, on Granville Island,” said Staff Sgt. Randy Fincham.

“Two people suffered minor injuries. A third pedestrian was pinned under the vehicle, and has since died.”

The driver remained at the scene, and is co-operating with the police investigation. The cause of the collision has yet to be determined.

Drivers can expect traffic delays on Granville Island, as police continue to conduct their investigation.
