Hip's long goodbye

The Tragically Hip are saying farewell to Vancouver.

They played the first of two final concerts in Vancouver Sunday night, a two-hour marathon set at Rogers Arena. The second concert is set for Tuesday.

The Hip kicked off its final cross-country tour in Victoria last week, and has performances lined up across the country. The tour, promoting the band's latest album "Man Machine Poem," was planned following the announcement in May that frontman Gord Downie was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer.

Downie opened with Twist My Arm and Three Pistols without any preamble. The band mixed in some new tunes, but for the most part brought the nostalgia with many of their iconic hits.
