Golf, swimming and yoga

What is going on with this weather?  Oh, well, still the best place to be, isn’t it!

Thanks to all who are supporting Rene Bourgault's Legacy Golf Tournament this afternoon. I can't thank you enough for supporting him and the Kelowna Jaycees.

The annual across the lake swim is Saturday morning. I learned this week that boat owners can volunteer their time and bring a YMCA lifeguard on board to keep the swimmers safe.

Don't worry about Dave Miles though because he is bringing an entourage of kayakers to keep him and other swimmers from his harm.

I am sure Justyna and Jamie Greenhough will be competing for household chores or date night responsibilities so they should be a fun couple to watch. Come cheer on Julie Brockilbrink, Katen Brownell and fellow Castanet columnist Ryan Lancaster as he completes another life challenge.

On a side note, did you see Ryan’s post of learning how to hip-hop dance at Wednesday night Dancing in the Park with Gene Bernier from Cheeky Monkey Media and me.

Check out his video and come join us next Wednesday.

I will be running alongside my youngest as she completes her first Tri Kids Race Sunday at H2O. This is an amazing thing to show your kids when they are young. All participants start in the pool, ride their bikes around the CNC and run in the Mission Creek sports fields.

Their age determines the length of each Tri. It’s well organized and the energy is over the top as everyone is cheering for their own kids plus encouraging everyone else’s as well.

It’s remarkable to see how talented and fast some of these young kids are.  It’s sold out this year, so make sure to register early next year.

Oranj Dance Fitness is hosting the seventh Annual Largest Outdoor Yoga Class Sunday at 9 a.m. in Stuart Park.  Four Oranj Fitness Studio’s are taking part, but Shauna Nyrose, Chelsea Ray, Tina Mandl and Keith “Major Abs” Lanouette Wells will be teaching the class in Kelowna.

If you haven’t experience the energy and passion from Oranj I strongly suggest you make your way downtown to take part.

Have Nica Graziotto scoop you some Artisto Gelato from her new gelato Truck when you done but only if you worked for it. Get more information.

OK, enough about exercising. I told you craft breweries were going to start opening, so I am super excited to announce Kettle River Brewing Company (KRBC) is having its grand opening this Saturday.

I believe they are the only craft brewers in the Okanagan to be barrel aging some of their beer. You know it's good if Karen Mason and Marshall Peters are going to fill up their growlers

The Green Vanity Boutique is coming off a phenomenal Sugar Plum Ball showing. They are the reason all the attendees had a rainbow of long lashes and sparkling eyes.

Owner Nikki Hunter is having a grand opening on the 16th. New location, new hours, new offerings and a new boutique.

This vanity boutique honours health and ethical products but really you should just go talk to Nikki because she's both talented and awesome.

Visit her website to see all her products and services if you don’t have the time to visit her this weekend.

More good things will be coming from our Kelowna Airport as John Devitt has been brought in to handle Non-Aeronautical Revenue, Air Service Development, Passenger Experience and YLW Branding (Community Relations).

John has the resume to knock all of this out of the park as he comes from the Penticton Chamber where he created some impressive events, attracted new industry workers and grew the tourism industry instead of taking it from the rest of the Okanagan.

He’s not afraid of hard work and change, which makes him right for the job. Congratulations, John!

Wow this weekend is busy, eh?  If you’re wondering how to get the entire family from place to place then worry no more because OGO Car Share Coop is adding a minivan to its 11-car fleet of passenger vehicles, pick-up trucks and their electric car.

Executive Director Christian Brandt is correct in his thinking that local families will benefit from using the minivan to complete errands, groceries and fun activities all for an affordable rate.

Congratulations, Christian, on the ongoing success of OGO.  If this concept is new to you, subscribe to their mailing list.

Make it a great week!
