Pospisil after grassy double

Wimbeldon hasn't gone the way Vasek Pospisil had hoped. At least not yet.

The 26-year-old Vernon tennis star was bounced from the first round in men's singles, losing to Albert Ramos-Vinolas of Spain in the first round.

Ramos-Vinolas defeated Pospisil 6-4, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.

It was a disappointing start for Pospisil, who made it all the way to the quarter-finals at the All England Tennis Club in 2015.

But all is not lost.

Pospisil and his partner, 23-year-old Jack Sock of the United States, have their eye on the Wimbeldon Men's doubles title.

The eighth ranked pair open the double's tournament Friday against the unseeded French duo of Quinten Halys and Tristan Lamasine.

Pospisil and Sock have some Wimbeldon success to draw from.

The pair upended brothers Bob and Mike Bryan in capturing the 2014 men's doubles title. They were knocked out in the third round last year.

It's their only Grand Slam doubles title.

They did reach the quarter-finals of the Australian Open this year and the French Open in 2015.

While Sock teams up with Pospisil in men's doubles, he also remains alive in singles.

He next faces Canadian Milos Raonic in the third round.
