An unidentified man is recovering after he was hit in the face on two separate occasions with pepper spray Wednesday morning.

The first incident happened at about 7:45 a.m. in front of the Kelowna Gospel Mission.

Officials at the Mission say a woman on a bicycle rode past the area and sprayed the victim in the face.

Two other people standing in the vicinity were hit with residual spray, but neither was hit in the face.

The victim washed himself off, and then was sprayed a second time by the same suspect in the lane behind the Mission about 20 minutes later, according to RCMP.

Police said emergency services were called in, but the victim left the scene.

RCMP have reviewed surveillance video of the incident.
