Dangerous vandalism

Fire hose adapters have been stolen from several locations, including Cherry Lane Shopping Centre, in recent days, according to the Penticton Fire Department.

Deputy fire chief Dave Spalding said the adapters, which firefighters use to hook into a building's sprinkler or standpipe system, are being stolen as an act of vandalism.

There was a spate of this type of theft a few years ago and now they appear to be happening again, said Spalding.

The thefts interfere with the fire department's ability to hook into those systems.

Penticton RCMP is aware of the incidents.
