Canada

The British are coming

Once again, Canada seems to be the destination of choice for people unhappy with developments in their own country.

As the popularity of controversial U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump began to rise, there was an increase in Americans Googling information on moving to Canada.

Well, now it's the Brits who are looking to the Great White North as a refuge from the political upheaval in their native land.

With the stunning decision by 52 per cent of voters for Britain to leave the EU, Brits dove for their computers and began searches on jumping the pond.

Google trends data showed a spike in interest among British users wanting to know how to move to Canada immediately following the referendum.

According to the data, the number of people in the U.K. typing "move to Canada" in their search engines surged Friday, the day after the vote.

One woman took to Twitter and posted: “After the #BREXIT decision I've had three of my old UK friends ask to marry me so they can move to Canada :)))))”
