Scooter laws

Re: No laws for scooters

Some people are dangerous (to themselves and others), no matter what type of vehicle they’re operating.

That said, there are rules concerning the use of what some people incorrectly call ‘Scooters’ (the three and four wheel electrically powered machines, without propulsion pedals), more correctly called ‘Handicapped Conveyance Device’ or ‘Motorized Wheelchair’ can be viewed here. The picture is pretty defining, and if you read the write-up, the rules are defined clearly.

The other device mistakenly called a ‘Scooter’ is defined here as a ‘Motor Assisted Cycle

The third device often called a ‘Scooter’ or Motor-scooter’ is by definition a ‘Motorcycle’, and is further confused by the ‘Low-powered’ designation (up to 49cc), which allows anyone with a valid driver’s to operate, regardless of any knowledge or skill.

Note: Common sense is an oxymoron, sense isn’t very common!
