Man sets self on fire

A police spokeswoman says two officers were hospitalized after a man set himself and a building on fire during a Chicago street festival.

Officer Michelle Tannehill tells The Associated Press the officers were being treated for injuries not believed to be life-threatening. The man also was in custody at a hospital, and the extent of his injuries wasn't immediately known.

The incident happened around 7:30 p.m. in the southwestern part of the city a few blocks from the National Museum of Mexican Art.

Letricia Sandoval tells the Chicago Tribune she was working at a drink stand at the Mole de Mayo festival. Her daughter said she saw a man in his underwear and an American flag set a store on fire and run away.

"We apologize for having to cut our performances and festival short," said organizers on Facebook.

"Due to an isolated incident that was not related to the festival and for the safety of our event attendees, the fire commander authorized that we have our attendees exit early. On behalf of the Mole de Mayo team, we thank everyone for your cooperation and support."
