Trial date set for murder

A tentative trial date has been set for the man accused of second-degree murder in the death his ex-fiancee in 2014.

Jury selection in Ryan Quigley's trial will tentatively begin Sept. 12.

Quigley, 36, is accused of killing his ex-fiancee, Aimee Parkes, at the Hiawatha Mobile Home Park on April 1, 2014.

Pre-trial proceedings continue this week, with a voir dire in Kelowna B.C. Supreme Court. A voir dire is held before or during a trial to determine the admissibility of evidence to be used at the trial itself — and, therefore, the information is under publication ban.

Two days after Parkes' body was discovered in the home they shared at Hiawatha, Quigley was arrested and charged in her death.

In December, Quigley was granted bail and is currently living under strict conditions with family.
