Fire at Waterscapes

UPDATED: 3:40 p.m.

Fire Crews arrived at the Skye building at Waterscapes on Sunset Drive at 1:45 p.m. to find light smoke coming from the balcony of a unit on the 24th floor.

A barbecue propane had caught fire, but the resident of the unit had put out the fire before fire crews arrived.

Kelowna fire fighters ensured the tank had fully cooled off and there was no possibility of it reigniting.

Two glass panes on the balcony’s railing were destroyed by the fire.

The fire was attended by 18 fire fighters, with three fire trucks and one ladder truck.

UPDATE 1:58 p.m.

The fire at Waterscapes has been extinguished. It reportedly originated from a propane tank on the deck of a top floor suite of the building.

Fire crews are en route to what is believed to be a balcony fire at Waterscapes on Sunset Drive.

Smoke has been seen coming from the penthouse.

Castanet News has a reporter heading to the scene.

Details when they become available.
