Helping hand for Fort Mac

Several Penticton businesses are doing their part to help out those impacted by the fire in Fort McMurray.

The businesses doing fundraisers range from a tattoo shop to a beauty salon and an adventure park.

"A lot of our friends, family and clients who have supported us over the years are hugely affected by this, so we wanted to give back," said Nathan Browns, owner of the Kettle Valley Tattoo Company.

Kettle Valley Tattoo at 284 Main Street, #106, is offering 10 pre-drawn tattoos ranging in price from $60 to $160 on Saturday.

The fundraiser will be from  2 p.m. until they can't tattoo anymore, with 100 per cent of the proceeds going to the Red Cross.

On Sunday, the Best Little Hair House at 468 Main Street will be open for cuts, blowouts and styles from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., with 100 per cent of the profits going to the Red Cross.

"It seems a lot of people are donating clothing and food items and we thought it would be nice for them to get some cash to get to where they want and so they have a place to stay,' said manager Sabrina Attwell.

The full service salon will also be doing a raffle on Sunday, after collecting donations from local businesses, this week.

The Real Canadian Superstore held a fundraising barbecue Friday, with a hotdog and pop for $4. The store is also asking people to donate at the checkout to help families in Fort McMurray.

LocoLanding Adventure Park announced its plans to help out earlier this week. For more information on what they are doing Sunday, go here.

Andy's Animal Acres, a Penticton petting farm, is also doing its part on Sunday. For more details on their plans, go here.
